Our team performed a number of surveys of a range of farms in South Auckland and the South Island looking for the agricultural weed; Velvet Leaf.
All plants that we found were mapped using the latest GIS technology and presented to the client in maps. This allowed all land owners to pin point exact locations of each weed infestation and enable them to control the velvet leaf quickly.
Velvet leaf is a particularly invasive weed that is able to change the soil chemistry surrounding it, making the local area suitable for itself to grow but unsuitable for agricultural plants and crops. If left uncontrolled, Velvet Leaf can cause economic decline across many farms in New Zealand.
