As a member of the Biosecurity Panel, we are asked to assist in post-border incursions such as Queensland Fruit Fly outbreaks.

We pull together quarantine response teams to provide immediate support to the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) across Auckland for all Fruit Fly outbreaks.

Our teams are involved with walking door to door around neighbourhoods where flies have been found and advising residents of the outbreak and how to manage fruit moving in and out of a quarantine area.  We also put out pheromone lures to monitor the presence of fruit flies,  and if any are found, we also move through the neighbourhood baiting to attract and kill all fruit flies.
