Targeted Pest Solutions Manager - Bevan Jones BBS, Dip Hort Mgmt

Bevan has spent over 13 years working and managing Port and Airport operations for MAF Quarantine Service in the Upper North Island.   During this time he was part of the MAF Exotic Disease and Pest Response Group and was involved in the fruit fly outbreak response in 1997.

Since 2007 Bevan has worked in many succesful animal and plant control operations which has resulted in the formation of Targeted Pest Solutions June 2007.

 

Team Leader - Colin Lambourn

Colin has a lifetime of outdoor experience including animal control, hunting, bushman-ship, conservation and commercial fishing.  Colin has designed and patented a possum trap that won first prize in a Mystery Creek Field Days invention competition and sold tens of thousands of them nationally and overseas. 

 

Jeanette Lambourn

Colin’s wife Jeanette is an integral part of the team.  She ensures an efficient and effective camp operation is run.

 

 Team Leader - Michelle Boulle

Michelle has been with Targeted Pest Solutions since the company was formed and is a valuble member of the Plant Control operations.  Michelle has considerable experience working in New Zealand and the Game Parks of her native South Africa and enjoys varying and challenging roles.

 

Daniel Cornege

Daniel works in both the Animal and Plants Team and has a great attitude and work ethic.  He has had 7 years working in the forestry industry as a field assistant initially then Team Leader.  This experience fits well with the requirements and role of a chemical applicator or animal control operator as the technical operations have similar characteristics.

 

Dr.Chris Denny

Chris has a PhD in marine ecology and is experienced in coordinating and undertaking large-scale projects. 

Chris works part time in both the Animals and Plants Teams and has 15 years experience with recreational hunting including rabbits, possums and deer.

Chris has been a project leader at the Cawthron Institute on a range of research projects addressing marine biosecurity, with a focus on the development of novel incursion response tools for marine pests.  As project manager for the IUCN Pacific Invasives Initiative, Chris developed and managed projects dealing with a variety of terrestrial pests in the Pacific (Fiji, Samoa, Kiribati, Tonga and French Polynesia).  These pests included rats, cats, cane toads, ants, dogs, mosquitoes and birds.  This role involved liaison and consultation with project stakeholders, government departments and other collaborators.  Chris also researched and helped prepare best practice manuals regarding the prevention, early detection, and rapid response for invasive pest management for the Invasive Species Specialist Group.

 

Owen Aspden

Owen works for both the Animals and Plants Teams.  He has had considerable experience with both animal and plant pests and disease inspection, treatment and control within New Zealand and overseas.  Owen has a strong background in farming and horticulture and has worked in import and export related services within the primary sector including working alongside a number of government departments.  Owen’s interests are mainly outdoors and include a long association and passion for big game hunting in New Zealand (40 years), Owens most recent trip was to the Southern Alps targeting Thar in November 2007.
